Tier X Tank Tier List for Random Battles

Written from the balance of the game as we know it through 2025; later updates move tanks up and down, so check the current patch before grinding a whole line for one vehicle.

A tier X tank is the end of a long grind, so the useful question is not “which tank is strongest on paper” but “which one keeps winning Random Battles in ordinary hands, on a random map, with a random team”. This list ranks researchable tier X tanks only: no reward vehicles, no collector tanks, and no artillery, which is its own game and does not compare with the other classes.

How the tanks are ranked

Every placement is an opinion built on the same four questions, in this order:

  1. Influence on the result. Can the tank hold or break a flank on its own, and does it stay useful when the team is losing?
  2. Consistency across maps. A tank that is brilliant on two maps and stranded on the rest ranks below one that is good everywhere.
  3. How forgiving it is. Armour that works without perfect angling, a gun that hits without full aim, enough hit points to survive one mistake.
  4. How well it fights when it is not top of the food chain. At tier X everyone is the same tier, but premium ammunition and good players are everywhere, so armour that only works against standard shells counts for less.

Clan Wars, Onslaught and tournament value are left out on purpose. Several tanks that are average here are staples of organised play.

The tier list

Tier Tank Class Why it sits here
S Super Conqueror Heavy Turret and spaced armour that hold hull-down, with one of the most reliable heavy guns in the game
S Object 277 Heavy A heavy with medium-like speed and a fast, hard-hitting gun: it picks its flank and arrives first
S Kranvagn Heavy Near-immune turret, superb gun depression and a three-shell clip that wins any ridge trade
S Vz. 55 Heavy Two barrels give it burst no single-gun heavy answers, behind a very strong turret
S Object 140 Medium The all-rounder: speed, camouflage, damage per minute and a turret that bounces often enough
S Strv 103B Tank destroyer Excellent camouflage and a laser-accurate gun in siege mode, with a hull that deflects surprisingly much
A IS-7 Heavy Tough pike nose and turret plus real mobility; held back only by a clumsy gun
A 60TP Lewandowskiego Heavy Very high damage per shot and a thick front; slow to relocate
A E 100 Heavy Huge health pool and a big-calibre gun; rewards angling, punished by premium rounds
A STB-1 Medium Hull-down specialist with adjustable suspension and top-class damage per minute
A Object 430U Medium The brawling medium: armour good enough to fight heavies at close range
A Progetto M40 mod. 65 Medium Autoreloader that chooses between burst and steady fire; needs clip discipline
A CS-63 Medium Turbine mode makes it the fastest relocator among mediums; ordinary gun
A Object 268 Version 4 Tank destroyer An assault gun that pushes like a heavy, fast and well armoured from the front
A T110E3 Tank destroyer A wall from the front with big damage per shot; helpless when flanked
A T-100 LT Light Tiny, quick and the hardest light to spot: the most dependable scout
B Maus Heavy The largest health pool at the tier, but slow enough to miss the fight and a favourite target for artillery
B T110E5 Heavy Does everything acceptably, with a cupola every opponent knows how to hit
B AMX 50 B Heavy Fast autoloader heavy with real burst and no armour to speak of
B Leopard 1 Medium Superb accuracy and speed, no armour at all: a sniper that punishes mistakes on both sides
B TVP T 50/51 Medium Quick clip and quick reload; fragile and dependent on good timing
B Jagdpanzer E 100 Tank destroyer Enormous damage per shot behind a huge superstructure; long reload, slow
B Grille 15 Tank destroyer Fast and accurate at long range, with no armour and poor camouflage after firing
B Manticore Light Tiny and stealthy passive scout; a weak gun limits its late game
B Panhard EBR 105 Light The fastest scout, wheeled and hard to hit; demanding to drive well
C IS-4 Heavy Solid armour by old standards, now outclassed by newer heavies in every role
C Type 5 Heavy Heavy Big and slow, with armour that premium ammunition goes straight through
C T-62A Medium A fine turret, but Object 140 does the same job with fewer drawbacks
C FV4005 Stage II Tank destroyer The biggest single hit in the list from a barn-sized, inaccurate platform
C AMX 50 Foch B Tank destroyer Frightening clip damage, then a long reload in a hull that cannot retreat
C Rheinmetall Panzerwagen Light A good gun for a light, but too visible to scout like the others

C does not mean unplayable. Every tank here can top the scoreboard; the lower tiers simply ask for more work, more map knowledge or more luck for the same result.

Reading the list by class

Heavy tanks

Heavies decide most Random Battles, which is why they fill the top of the table. The S-tier four share one trait: a turret that survives being shot at while the gun keeps working. Play them on ridges and rubble, where the hull is hidden.

Medium tanks

Object 140 leads because it has no bad map. The A-tier mediums each trade some of that flexibility for one strong feature: STB-1 for ridges, Object 430U for close combat, Progetto 65 for burst, CS-63 for speed.

Light tanks

No light reaches S in Random Battles, because a perfect scouting game still depends on teammates who shoot. T-100 LT is the safest of them: it stays hidden where others are found.

Tank destroyers

The class splits in two. Strv 103B and Grille 15 fight from distance; Object 268 Version 4 and T110E3 fight at the front. The frontline pair is easier to turn into wins, since it does not wait for the enemy to drive into view.

The friendliest first tier X

A first tier X should teach the tier without punishing every error. These four do:

Tank Why it suits a newcomer What it teaches
IS-7 Armour forgives bad angles, speed forgives bad positions Leading a push, using the turret
Object 140 Works on every map and in every role Map rotation, timing, spotting your own damage
Super Conqueror Hull-down play is simple to learn and very strong Ridge fighting, trading shots
E 100 A large health pool buys time to think Angling, side-scraping, when to push

Leave these for later, however tempting they look:

  • Leopard 1 and Grille 15: no armour, so every mistake costs most of the tank.
  • Autoloaders and autoreloaders (Kranvagn, AMX 50 B, TVP T 50/51, Progetto 65): the long reload punishes poor timing.
  • Wheeled and passive scouts (EBR 105, Manticore): they need map knowledge a first tier X usually does not have yet.
  • FV4005 Stage II: great fun, and wildly inconsistent.
